Sesonkipuoti Selma (Seasonal Boutique Selma) is a communal project based in Uurainen, a municipality in the heart of Central Finland. For over ten years, crafty people have come together to sell their handiwork. In addition to enabling a straightforward sell-and-buy for the non-professional locals, Selma is also an event to bring people together. Anyone and everyone is invited!

Selma has appeared in different locations as a pop-up shop, usually preceding Christmas and other holidays as the products sold make lovely presents. Now Selma has a steady base in the premises of an old convenience store in the centre of Uurainen (at Virastotie 2). The duration and dates of the pop-up are always notified in advance on this site and in the Facebook group. During summertime Selma has also extended its presence to a café in the centre of Uurainen, serving coffee, ice cream, waffles and locally baked goods.

These offered products can be and have been a variety of wonders: handmade clothing, accessories and jewellery most often of recycled materials, organic soap, candles, canned goods, board games – you name it.

The people behind these products are referred to as producers (tuottaja in Finnish). The producers bring in their products and together with the Selma aunties we put them on display. So the producers produce and Selma sells!

If you would like to have your products sold at Selma, contact us through the form on this page or via email. Tell us more and we’ll tell you more!

Selma is organised and run by volunteer work and the café’s workers often work as part of the 4H summer job funding.
